Thursday, October 8, 2026 10:00 AM Charlies Park | 9th & Walnut Thanks to a generous investment from Spectrum (formerly Cox Communications), Charlies Park has recently received some exciting upgrades, including new playground equipment, new signage, and a new fence all designed to create a safer, more enjoyable place for children and families on the north side of Collinsville. But Charlies Park is more than just a playground. Its a park with a story. The park is named in memory of Charlie Leach, who lived on the corner near the park and passed away on October 10, 1997. Charlie loved spending time at the Collinsville City Park, and after his passing, the Leach family donated this land so a playground could be created for children in the neighborhood a special place dedicated to Charlies memory. Members of the Leach family will join us for the Ribbon Cutting to share Charlies story and help a new generation understand why this neighborhood park means so much. Bring the kids! Slush Face Slushies ( will be on site serving FREE slushies, compliments of Spectrum and the City of Collinsville! We invite the entire community especially our children to come see the improvements, enjoy the new equipment and help us celebrate the next chapter of Charlies Park while remembering the man who inspired it.
